Software Development Manager (AWS Nitro System)

DESCRIPTION

We will hire for this role either in Seattle, WA or SFO Bay Area, CA

Are you interested in how Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) deploys software to 19 geographic regions across 57 availability zones when a single availability zones can have as many as 300K servers in them?

Come join the team working on how to do that safely while enabling teams to do so with Full CI/CD. You will work on a globally distributed system and the mechanisms to ensure every release is done using best practices. As a central part of improving the ability for teams to move faster safely, you will have the broadest possible exposure to the entire AWS infrastructure.

In this role, you will serve as an Engineering Leader working as part of AWS Nitro System and you will collaborate with EC2's entire leadership team. You will mentor and lead engineers, guiding them towards the best software development practices. You will serve as a leader in the team to define the priorities and vision of the group. You will collaborate with users around the globe to define and re-define change management in the cloud computing space!

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years' software experience in a modern programming language, such as Java, Scala, C or C++.
• 4+ years' experience managing and developing direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A passion for people management and mentorship.
• Technically sound in software development activities and life cycles.
• Software development experience in C/C++, Java, Perl, XML, Web services, and UNIX tools.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
