DESCRIPTION
Amazon Web Services is looking for experienced engineering leaders to work with us and define and build the future of computing. The AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) service delivers high performance virtualized storage "in the cloud" for EC2. Durable storage is a key building block for any application and as a member of the EBS you'll work alongside outstanding engineers and leaders to develop and operate one of the largest storage services in the world.
We are looking for an innovative engineering manager to own, build, and grow the meta-data systems that make up EBS. Grow and lead a group that will design, develop, test, and operate large scale distributed systems that runs on several thousands of nodes and can be resilient in different situations like infrastructure failures, network partitions, etc. As a member of the EBS leadership, you will set and meet challenging goals and by working with customers and other leaders throughout AWS. You will guide and shape our long term technical and business strategy.
The ideal candidate will be excited about the incredible opportunity cloud computing represents, will be passionate about distributed systems and thrive on building and driving great teams to deliver high quality software. This is a fast paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and great communication skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 8+ years of industry experience
• 4+ years of management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Programming in Java, C and/or C++ in Linux or Windows environment. #AWS-FF-SDM
• Experience building and operating a large scale distributed system
• Experience with distributed consensus protocols like Paxos, Raft, etc.
