Software Development Engineer III
- Seattle, WA
Come build the future of the Linux and Open Source organization! Our industry has marked that containers are now the chosen way to package and scale applications. Our customers are making great use of Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS, with over 80% of all cloud-based containers running on AWS. Container-based environments lend themselves to easy scale-out, and customers can run host environments that encompass hundreds or thousands of instances.
If you are an experienced Software Developer who is passionate about Cloud/Linux based Distributed Systems, Containers, Operating Systems and building the platform to support the world's premier cloud computing environment, then this is the job for you.
Our group is responsible for building software and services that help customers run and scale their containerized applications. The Linux and Open Source team is responsible for Amazon Linux and Bottlerocket distributions to ensure our customers have a secure and high quality environment for their Linux and Container applications.
As a Sr. Software Developer you will work with technical leaders to define technical direction, hire and develop the skills of the teams you lead, and own the delivery of the products and programs they're tasked with. You are equally comfortable leading small, focused project teams as well as making major direct contributions to the project. You deliver features, both directly and through the teams you lead, with minimal direct oversight. You are also adept at recruiting and developing bar-raising talent. The baseline individual for this role will be entirely comfortable with the Linux operating system and understand how to develop in languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, Ruby, and Python in a Linux environment. Experience with Linux package management, understanding of and experience in contributing to open source projects, knowledge of the use, design, and development of Linux operating system internals, including the kernel and hypervisor are a plus.
If you like helping customers, working on large and distributed services, solving complex problems, and working with a talented and amazing group of people then we are the team for you. Our team creates the very core of the cloud, and is directly responsible for radically changing and improving the way that people use computers - come join us to have fun, and make history!
