Come join us to renovate the way to visualize the EC2 fleet state! Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a fast-growing business within Amazon that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. The EC2 Fleet Insights team provides visibility to the internal EC2 state through UI solutions and query APIs. Our services are a one-stop-shop for Amazon teams who manage and control EC2.

We are looking for software development engineers who are passionate about creating & improving the services that collect, aggregate and render the real-time fleet state data for our customers. On any given day, we use Java, Ruby on Rails, Python, SQL, Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation, as well as other public AWS services and a host of Amazon-internal tools. We don't expect you to be an expert in, or necessarily even be familiar with, all of the technologies listed above, but we do expect you to be excited to learn about them!

In this role you'll you define, implement and upgrade the data services interacting with the EC2 data distribution platform and also shape the future of the new data retrieval solution including both front and back ends running at the massive scale level. You will apply your creative and critical problem solving skills to handle the customer requests and create simple & elegant solutions to solve their challenges.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or further education or similar experience in any related computer science or engineering field
  • Experience in delivering large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
  • Proficient in any of these languages: Java/Ruby/C/C++/C#, preferably on a Linux/Unix platform.
