We are looking for a curious software developer to dive into the end-to-end experience of book publishing, quality assurance and ingestion, building performant and scalable systems of the highest quality. We solve the biggest problems in book publishing out of an office in sunny central California.

Our team builds the end to end systems required to ensure books never go out of stock, printing and shipping books right after orders are placed. We strive to provide an experience that is powerful, yet simple to use and accessible to all. This role will help design and engineer the future of the book industry. We focus on building tools that enable publishers to design high quality paperback and hardcover books, reaching readers all around the world. By providing an excellent set of tools for our publishers we will help their works reach more readers.

Great candidates for this position possess a sound understanding of computer science and a passion for learning new skills. You will collaborate with diverse business and technical partners from all over the world to shape our technology. You will be the voice of publishers and readers, driving technological innovation to create an unparalleled content creation and discovery experience.

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
- Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
- Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C++, C#, or Java


Interest and/or experience in one or more of the following:
- AJAX, JavaScript, and Java web programming
- Amazon Web Services
- REST web services
- Functional programming
- Distributed Systems
