We focus not only on delivering against today's technology requirements, but also thinking big to pioneer the innovations that will change the future of eCommerce. eCommerce Services (eCS) team is at the heart of eCF. The team is responsible for Amazon's critical systems for customer accounts, authentication, and order processing, including shopping cart, order contracts and workflows, global tax, promotions, ship options, and compliance enforcement. These global systems enable Amazon's businesses, from retail, marketplace and international expansion to physical stores and AWS.

As a software development engineer within eCS, you will work with a high caliber team to deliver the next generation of e-Commerce solutions that drive Amazon. In our team, you will work with product and engineering leaders across the company, and your work will contribute to the success of a series of high impact, high visibility, critical path projects.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment life-cycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. They need to enjoy working closely with their peers in a high-performing group of very smart and talented engineers.
We're looking for people who are smart and can get things done, though the following skill sets provide a good foundation for a quick ramp up to being productive in our Java, Linux and AWS-based environment.

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Experience with building high throughput, distributed and scalable systems
• Experience building and maintaining services in UNIX or Linux environments
• Experience with building services using the SaaS model
• Experience working in large scale Service Oriented Architecture environments
