AWS SSM Explorer is an operations dashboard that provides actionable insights on customers AWS resources. Powered by a massive and ever growing data lake, Explorer aggregates data across AWS accounts and regions, making it easy for customers to view operational data and take action on AWS resources.
With SSM Explorer, customers can use built in Explorer features such as "Resource Data Sync" to aggregate "OpsData" across accounts and regions. This data provides actionable insights into Patch compliance, Security, Performance, Costs, Operational Issues related to customers' AWS resources. With simplicity and power of SSM Explorer, each of our customers are able to improve safety and operational health of their AWS resources, by taking actions on insights vs having to build and maintain their own infrastructure to achieve the same. Fun and Challenging problems
You will be leading the evolution of customer experiences offered by Explorer, which will enable Operators, IT Admins to quickly discover and remediate operational issues quickly and efficiently. You will work across customers, partners, internal service teams in learning from their usage of Explorer, define the features and product roadmap and take Build-Measure-Learn approaches, to rapidly evolve Explorer. As part of Explorer evolution, you will build experiences that enable personalization, build context specific widgets, provide automated insights that enable rapid resolution of Issues. You will talk to customers regularly and lead innovation efforts that delight them continuously.
The SSM Operations Management team values work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in either the Seattle office, but we're also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm. About half of us come in earlier and the other half of us stay later. We are builder-operators of our services at AWS and have an on-call rotation where you'll participate once every 6-8 weeks. We work together to reduce our on-call load by ensuring that our systems are fault tolerant, and resolve the root cause of an issue, so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
5+ years of professional working experience on software development.
Experience building an operating a large scale distributed system
Understanding of open source architecture, software and tools
Experience working with the open source community
