Software Development Engineer


We are growing and taking on more to make the world safe for ecommerce.'s fraud detection team is involved in a technology arms race: sophisticated criminal from all over the world are continually discovering new ways to steal from us and getting better at covering their tracks. We are pioneering new techniques to detect and neutralize them.

You may not be aware that when one places an order on with a stolen credit card, it's amazon that has to pay for it. Every dollar of fraud that we prevent is a dollar of profit for Amazon or a dollar that can be reinvested to deliver new features for our customers. Because of Amazon's huge scale, this a great opportunity to add hundreds of millions to the bottom line.

We have the world's most advance fraud detection software, but it still has a long way to go. Our system is complex and handles the entire order traffic flow. Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with advanced degrees preferred

Experience with object oriented programming including Java, C++, C#, or C

5+ years of hands on software development experience

Strong technical experience developing large scale applications.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be passionate about simple and elegant software solutions, customer-centric products, and utilizing agile development processes.

Other preferred skillsets:

Relevant experience in building large scale service based system from ground up

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Exhibits strong software development qualities including the ability to drive creative and innovation solutions to complex problems, good technical judgment, clear communication, engagement and teamwork, and can drive quality

Strong written/spoken communication skills

Experience with system architecture/design
