DESCRIPTION

The AWS Demand Forecasting team is responsible for growing the world's largest Cloud. We forecast customer demand, build inventory replenishment system, and drive utilization improvement for all AWS services.

What we own:

  • Building a world-class forecasting platform that scales to handling billions of time series data in real time.
  • Expanding inventory replenishment models and systems for each AWS service in the fast-growing AWS product portfolio.
  • Finding out the optimal tradeoff between AWS service availability and fleet utilization.
  • Driving fleet utilization improvement where each 1% means millions of additional free cash flow.
  • Automating tactical and strategic capacity planning tools to optimize for service availability and infrastructure cost.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform)
• Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages a plus
• Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
• Experience in optimization mathematics (linear programming, nonlinear optimization)
• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
• Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
