The Developer Tools organization within Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a talented Software Development Engineer.

Our team owns the software and systems that help Amazon's vast developer community build the cutting-edge services and technology that Amazon is known for. Our systems make it possible for every developer at Amazon to rapidly change their running applications without ever having to jeopardize the availability their customers expect. We have delivered the technology that powers fully automated deployments and dynamic fleet scaling for some of the world's largest services with a massive impact. We are not done yet! We want to take our services to the next level applying modern, real-time analytics and machine learning techniques to completely eliminate failures caused by software and infrastructure changes.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the definition, vision, design, roadmap, and development of the set of services. We are a bottom up team with a lot of freedom to set the direction based on data driven decisions. We are like a startup but with the backing of a large company. You will contribute to critical and highly-visible function within the AWS business. You will be given the opportunity to autonomously deliver the technical direction of the services and features. You will work closely with developers across multiple teams incorporating customer input and ensuring our services and other Amazon services work in conjunction. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Strong problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Proficiency with computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience developing software services and knowledge of design for scalability, performance and reliability
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers in all aspects of their engineering skillsets
• Experience developing cloud scale distributed systems
• Experience developing on Unix/Linux operating system
• Experience with Agile Development techniques
