What We Do
- Building a world-class forecasting platform that scales to handling billions of time series data in real time.
- Long-range forecasting and capacity planning systems that inform strategic decisions that must be made early.
- Expanding inventory replenishment models and systems for each AWS service in the fast-growing AWS product portfolio.
- Finding out the optimal tradeoff between AWS service availability and fleet utilization.
- Driving fleet utilization improvement where each 1% means millions of additional free cash flow.
- Automating tactical and strategic capacity planning tools to optimize for service availability and infrastructure cost.
- Customer demand forecasting, inventory management and supply chain management for the Cloud.
- How AWS plans the expansion of our global footprint in over thirty geographies and does this at scale.
- How our forecasts drive strategic business decisions and financial plans that set our business up for success in the long run.
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. We generally keep core in-office hours from 9 am to 5pm, but we are flexible when team members occasionally need to modify their day for family or other obligations.
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every 1 1.5 months. Over the past seven months we have had an average of one high-severity ticket per month. We like to proactively work towards making our systems fault-tolerant, which has enabled us to minimize operational workload.

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- 4+ years of experience developing objected-oriented software, with mastery of one or more relevant languages (Java, C#, C++, Ruby, etc.)
- Knowledge of Python (or other scripting languages) and SQL
- Experience with time series forecasting methods
- Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
