Amazon's Merchant Technologies group does just that - building the software platform and applications necessary for sellers to manage their business on Amazon. This Software Development position is for Seller Experience team where innovation and latest technologies merge to build brand new features and capabilities for sellers.
The Team:
Seller Experience team builds systems for sellers to onboard to Fulfillment programs such as Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) and provides them with insights & recommendations to grow their business. Team owns functionality for the following: 1) Self-Service Registration (SSR) - Simple experience for Sellers to enroll into fulfillment programs 2) Analytics - Provides sellers with insights into their business (Prime and Non-Prime) and allow them to make informed decisions to uplift their business 3) Recommendation Engines - Recommends Prime products to Sellers to maximize their profitability and improve Prime selection for customers 4) Order Throttling - Throttles the number of orders allowed each day per seller to protect the experience for customers.
The Role:
The team is seeking an experienced software development engineer who will own backend data pipelines, system workflows, user interfaces and service & API layer application support. These systems are to be used by hundreds of internal and tens of thousands of sellers worldwide. To be successful in this role, you will need to have a passion for full stack development, data and service architecture and engineering.
In this role, you will:
• Design, Develop and maintain large scale distributed systems.
• Work with team members to devise design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against tight schedules.
• Collaborate with business and product partners to build applications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's Degree in CS highly desirable.
• A strong bias toward building simple, sustainable, extensible code.
• The ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical customers in order to understand ambiguous problems and articulate technical obstacles and solutions to complex challenges.
• Practical experience with software engineering best practices, refactoring existing code, and a strong desire to create quality solutions and designs.
• A deep understanding of distributed systems, multi-threaded programming and messaging technologies. (Do you know what SOA is and how to make it work? Can you write a service from the ground up without using any framework?)
• Experience leveraging Machine Learning (ML) to solve the business problems
• The leadership capacity to influence the technical direction of a new product while ensuring a team-oriented approach to delivery in an agile software development environment.
