DESCRIPTION
Tech Team supports Amazon's mission of offering the widest selection of products available, while protecting customers from recalled or unsafe products. We develop a suite of systems (manual, supervised, and fully automated) that enable product classification according to various taxonomies. These include systems that:
(1) orchestrate and automate operational workflows,
(2) perform data extraction from documents (such as technical specifications) and images (such as product labels) associated with the products, making use of the latest NLP advances,
(3) perform standard symbol identification in documents and natural scenes,
(4) make classification recommendations and surface potential risks
In building these systems we leverage a mix of in-house and public AWS technologies such as Lambda, Fargate, Step Functions, SageMaker, Textract, Comprehend, Translate, Rekognition and DeepLens.

We are looking for Software Development Manager with strong analytical and problem solving skills, who will participate in the full development cycle from design and implementation to documentation and maintenance. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be passionate about developing reliable, efficient, and maintainable data analysis solutions that provide users with robust information solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
•
• Lead team to invent, evolve, and/or deprecate data solutions. Able to scope a project and evaluate releases to ensure they meet business needs.
•
• Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance;
•
• Establish and/or streamline development, test, and operational excellence best practices.
•
• Handle most problems, decisions, and escalations. Mitigate long-term risks. Finds a path forward in difficult situations. Effectively hire, manage performance, coach, and promote.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
• Object-oriented design,coding and problem solving skills (Java and/or C++)
• Web development
• Expertise with data structures, algorithms, and relational databases;
• Good understanding of software architecture and design issues;
• Tactical and strategic management.
• Advanced level of written and spoken English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years of experience leading, managing and developing high-performing engineering teams;
• Web development expertise;
• Expertise with the MVC pattern in web development using Spring;
• Expertise with data structures, algorithms, and relational databases;
• Expertise with AWS;
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment;
• Advanced level of written and spoken English.
