Senior Tax Manager, International

Description

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Income Tax Manager to focus on Non-US income tax reporting and compliance. This position will be primarily responsible for local country tax reporting (non-US direct tax returns & tax accounting) as well as the international aspects of the US GAAP worldwide income tax provision. This position will also be responsible for supporting the US and international tax controversy teams on audits and the international tax team on the compliance and reporting aspects of projects (including M&A and integration). This position will be based in Seattle, Washington.

Primary job duties include:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for tax professionals located in multiple countries and outside service providers
  • Responsible for non-US income tax accounting under US GAAP, IFRS, etc.
  • Responsible for non-US income tax return compliance
  • Generate tax planning ideas to minimize cash tax
  • Review tax planning ideas to determine impacts to worldwide tax provision
  • Review international aspects of Amazon's worldwide provision
  • Research effects of various international transactions
  • Support international tax compliance and reporting aspects of mergers and acquisitions (due diligence and integration)
  • Support international tax controversy teams on tax audits
  • Drive process improvements and coordinate with Tax Technology Team to facilitate streamlining and automation of recurring calculations

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of direct tax experience
  • University Degree in Accounting / Taxation or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secondary University Degree in Tax or Law Degree desirable
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong tax operational background and ability to drive process improvements
  • Knowledge of US federal income taxation of international transactions
  • Experience with Oracle Financial Applications helpful
  • Significant knowledge of cross-border income taxation laws
  • Significant knowledge of accounting for income taxes under US GAAP, IFRS, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English
