The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

The Role:
As a Senior System Modeling Engineer, you will be part of an advanced architecture team that is exploring new hardware designs to improve our devices. In this role, you will work closely with system architects and SoC architects to develop performance models using high-level languages to perform architectural analysis and enable pre-silicon software development. You will help define and implement methodologies used across the team to estimate and analyze SoC performance and power. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups including Product Design, Audio Technology, Computer Vision, Hardware Engineering, and Software Engineering, to architect and implement complex functional blocks that enable development of world-class hardware devices.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with system architects and hardware and software engineers to assess and evaluate various work loads and architectures through modeling techniques.
  • Implement tools, methods and processes to create a high performance, efficient and reusable environment.
  • Create world-class software models for IP in the areas of machine learning, computer vision and robotics
  • Develop and optimize full-scale functional models to be used to verify and validate HDL models
  • Participate in program and architecture reviews


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in EE, CE, or CS
  • 7+ years' experience developing high-level architectural and functional models
  • Experience with Functional Virtual Prototypes and transaction level modeling
  • Knowledge with languages for modeling including SystemC , C/C++, Python
  • Knowledge of tools and environments for modeling including Synopsys Platform Architect or similar


  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with Synopsys Virtualizer, Platform Architect or ARM DesignStart
  • Experience with ARM and various DSP ISA
  • Experience with SOC fabrics, memory controllers, and SOC peripherals
  • Experience with UVM
  • Experience with machine learning, computer vision or robotics
  • Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
