Senior Software Development Engineer - Weblab
Are you interested in building an analytics system which takes loads of complex data, extracts insights, and presents them in ways that enable multi-million dollar decisions? The Weblab team is looking for a software engineer with a passion for quality data processing.
Weblab is Amazon's experimentation platform, which enables controlled activation of changes and measures the impact those changes make to customer behavior and the business. Our tool is used by hundreds of teams within Amazon to interpret their data and make million dollar decisions; allowing them to launch critical features at the flick of a button. Our service has thousands of clients and enables responds in nanoseconds and we process over 7 terabytes of data on a given day. If you have ever noticed a change introduced on an Amazon website, those changes were enabled by our systems.
As a member of the Weblab team, you'll collaborate with a diverse group of engineers to design and build the next generations of systems that make Amazon's data understandable and actionable. To do this, you'll need to be comfortable working at all levels, from the web based front-end and distributed back-end processing systems, to digging into the raw data and communicating the insights you find to internal users and leadership. Sometimes, you'll have to solve incredibly hard problems that involve leading your whole team to deliver novel solutions to the problem. Other times, you'll be able to have the same size impact by doing something really easy. An ideal candidate will delight in both.
- Ability to work in a diverse team, with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years professional experience in software engineering.
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through to launch of the project.
- Statistical or data modeling experience.
- Interested in big data & data processing.
