Elastic Block Storage (EBS) Snapshots team builds and manages some of the largest point-in-time backup systems in the world. EBS Snapshots allows AWS users to create, and manage point-in-time backups of their EBS Volumes in a highly scalable, durable, and reliable service for enterprise scale.
On the EBS Snapshots team you'll get to build critical backup and storage services that impact every single AWS customer, both internally and externally there's not many team's that can say that!
This is a full-stack development position, leaning towards back-end work.
Work/Life Balance
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in the Seattle office, but we're also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm.

On-Call Responsibility
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

Ideal Candidate Experience and Background
The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building & operating high performance systems at scale. You should have experience working with other senior engineers, mentoring junior engineers, and working with senior leaders to define your team's roadmap. Experience in the storage industry is helpful but not required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 7 years of software industry experience.
• Programming in Java, C and/or C++ in Linux or Windows environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience building scalable infrastructure software for commercial online services.
• Experience with storage, filesystems, virtualization technologies and on-demand computing.
