Your responsibilities will include:
• Translating complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
• Running multi-engineer, cross-team projects, and mentoring others on project management and prioritization.
• Being very hands on. Work with others on the engineering team to manage day-to-day development activities, and participate in designs, design reviews, code reviews, and implementation.
• Delivering quality features on time and on budget.
• Performing data analysis to identify opportunities to optimize our services.
• Working with data scientists to understand the data they need, and acting on the insights they provide.
• Maintaining current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always being on the lookout for new technologies and working with management and the development team to bring in new technologies when appropriate.

Basic qualifications
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team

Additional basic qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent - Masters in Computer Science preferred.
• Advanced coding skills in Java, C/C++ preferably on a Linux/Unix platform.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current large scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms and data structures.
• Good understanding of multi-threaded programming, concurrency, locking, and synchronization.
• Linux / UNIX system experience.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design.
• Experience in back-end services.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to a quality effort, including creating tests and executing them.
• Solid track record for delivery of high quality products.
• Good understanding of open source database technologies.

4.
Preferred Qualifications
• 10+ year's overall professional software development experience and 7+ years enterprise software experience.
• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science.
• Experience in SQL database development.
• Experience with consistency protocols, transaction concurrency and isolation levels.
• Good understanding of data consistency, locking, and network protocols.
• Knowledge of database system internals and design principles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS APIs and services.
• Experience integrating with 3rd party libraries.
• Low level performance and tuning.
• Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Seven or more years of professional software development experience
• Experience with relational and non-relational database systems
• Experience with programming in Rust
• Experience on delivering data plane with multi-gigabit scale
• A track record of successfully leading the delivery of projects as part of an agile software development team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers with less experience
