As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will drive the technical vision and implementation of software solutions that allows us to scale and support multiple businesses globally. Your work will have direct impact not only on Amazon's end customers, but also on large number of delivery partners who deliver packages for us.

The Role
We are looking for a driven Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate about working with cutting edge technologies, brings deep technical knowledge and experience with distributed systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is excited to work on cloud scale software both as an individual contributor and technical lead and have a proven track record of architecting and building scalable software. You will act as a thought leader and must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. You must be able to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop technical specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner. Maturity, high judgment, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
Specifically, this person will:

1. Develop the technical strategy, architecture and build software to meet the needs of businesses we support.
2. Evaluate technology and platform choices while balancing between time to market, cost, scale, and customer experience.
3. Drive adoption of engineering best practices, coding standards, and ongoing improvements in quality, consistency, maintainability, performance, security and all the other things that make great software.
4. Perform design and code-reviews, and provide consultation to other engineers.
5. Evangelize technical vision among multiple Amazon teams and influence them to deliver on specific capabilities needed to accomplish team's goals.


• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with consistent career progression in high pace roles.
• Demonstrated strong coding and design proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C# or C++
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build and release processes, and test suite development and maintenance.
• High sense of ownership, self-motivation, and desire to delight customers.
• Ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize tasks.


• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with AWS technologies like S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS etc.
• Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
• Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to develop all aspects of their engineering skill sets.
