Amazon Robotics - Senior Software Engineer - Westboro, MA (Remote Hybrid).

As an Amazon Robotics (AR) Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering cloud-based, high performance software that controls a world-wide fleet of mobile robots using Amazon AWS cloud services. The Robotic Movement team is made up of developers and data scientists that are on several different teams. The teams own a comprehensive micro-service architecture made up of many individual software services that run the world-wide fleet of over 400,000 mobile robots within Amazon warehouses. The services are mainly written in Java and built using AWS products. We also building several web-based applications used by Amazon Operations that view or configure the mobile robots. Our teams balance building new services to meet the needs of our growing customer base and extending existing services by developing new algorithms or by optimizing application performance.

As an Amazon Robotics software engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering world-class highly available, scalable, reliable and performant components and services on the cloud. You will have the opportunities to work collaboratively with other and hardware teams in Robotics and other organizations. We will provide you the (including access to AWS cloud services) and support you need to make this journey rewarding, fulfilling and fun.


  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • 8 + years of hands-on experience in or as well as other high-level languages such as Java, C++ or C #
  • 5+ years experience in distributed design
  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Experience developing cloud services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
  • Knowledge of professional engineering practices & best practices for the full life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source management, processes, testing, and operations
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
  • Experience building complex that have been successfully delivered to customers.


  • MS in Science or related field
  • Knowledge of professional engineering practices & best practices for the full life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source management, processes, testing, and operations
  • Hands-on experience developing and driving programs or projects with aggressive schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, which includes excellent listening skills, concise communications, and targeting the message to specific audiences.
  • Experience developing in Web Services - AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence people and teams at every level in the organization.
