As a Senior SDE on the team, you will
- Partner with Product managers and Business owners to define key components of the overall strategy.
- Build a robust and scalable platform that will enable a large volume of transactions and events to be processed
- Play a pivotal role in choosing the right technology to build these solution components on
- Play the role of a technology leader for a high performing team of engineers

Responsibilities
• Lead complex and ambiguous programs and platform evolution roadmap
• Assisting directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and development of technical talent
• Assisting in the career development of technical colleagues, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
• Exerting technical influence over other teams (both within and outside of amazon.in ecosystem) by providing design consultations, sharing your deep software engineering knowledge and experience etc. which will help increase their productivity and effectiveness
• Contributing to Amazon intellectual property through patents
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, builder and operator. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The leader needs to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

Basic Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science and 10+ years of Software Development experience
• Proven track record of building large-scale, highly available, low latency, high quality distributed systems and software products
• Experience managing complex projects, with significant bottom-line impact
• Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP)
• Software development experience in Java, AWS and mobile technologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against other competing systems in the industry.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the eCommerce domain is desirable
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
• Strong business and technical vision
• Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 5+ years experience managing software development teams, ideally with some hands-on architectural and/or distributed systems experience
