DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Books team is looking for an innovative, results-oriented, customer-centric team player to help build our Books business. This Senior Program Manager will manage key activities with publishers and help define the growth strategy and execution for business initiatives and products in JP.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strategic planning, innovation, program building, project management, and delivery of results. You must be able to influence across functions and be able to break down problems and come up with practical solutions quickly. You will work with book vendor managers to establish and drive new programs, process improvements, and improvements in the publisher's experience. You must be customer-focused, entrepreneurial, a proven self-starter and have the ability to invent.

Within this role, you will
• Be responsible for the development and execution of strategic programs
• Be an expert relationship manager and communicator, who works closely with other Amazon team members to ensure performance to SLAs and speedy and accurate resolution of issues
• Identify opportunities for innovation and automation
• Serve as a key member of the Vendor Management team in helping to define and deliver the growth strategy
• Develop business and product requirements, prioritize needs, and manage milestones with input from key stakeholders
• Establish and execute against selection, operational, and business metrics
• Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management of Amazon and publishers
• Leverage data analysis to research difficult or ambiguous problems, leading cross-disciplinary teams to drive recommendations to senior leadership
• Become an Books expert who understands industry trends, competitive environment and publisher and readers' needs and innovates in response

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of professional experience ideally in e-commerce, purchasing, entrepreneurialism, finance or consulting
• Demonstrated ability of project/product management ability to plan, juggle multiple priorities, delegate tasks and make things happen (strong bias for action); Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
• Must be fluent in English - ability to lead conference calls, write up business review documents in English and make an influence on even senior leadership of the Books organization. Japanese preferred but not mandatory
• Proven analytical and quantitative skills (includes ability to use tools); ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and feature concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams and business teams

• Strong communication skills and assertive abilities on all levels, while maintaining the ability to be vocally self-critical and seek feedback
• Track record of innovation and delivering measurable results
• Ability to creatively 'think big' about new ideas to delight customers and grow readership
• Significant personal initiative, creativity, and team spirit
• Enthusiasm for the world of books
• Consulting, finance, banking or prior experience in a problem-solving or analytical role preferred
• Proven analytical thinking, leadership, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills
• Knowledge of SQL and other reporting technologies and methods
• Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior level executives
