The Sponsored Products org optimizes the systems and ad placements to match advertiser demand with publisher supply; using a combination of machine learning, big data analytics, ultra-low latency high-volume engineering systems, and a quantitative product focus. Our systems and algorithms operate on one of the world's most extensive product catalogs, matching shoppers with products - with a high relevance bar and strict latency constraints. Our goals are to help buyers discover new products they love, be the most efficient way for advertisers to meet their business objectives, and build a significant, sustainable business that allows Amazon to innovate on behalf of all customers.

We seek a Senior Manager to own improving the experience of ads placements. This leader will drive the science and engineering strategies within the Sponsored Products organization while also owning a broad mandate to influence various teams spread across Amazon's retail business. You will be responsible for hiring and developing the individuals within your team and fostering a transparent, collaborative development environment.

As a Senior Manager, this role will:
• Own the machine learning vision, roadmap, and execution.
• Lead scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver product features and solutions.
• Be a scientific thought leader and foster innovation.
• Hire, develop and grow talent.
• Collaborate with advertising and partner teams.
• Perform hands-on experimentation deep-dive, run regular A/B tests, and communicate the impact to senior management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 10 years of experience building Machine Learning solutions for large-scale applications.
• At least 5 years of experience managing a team of scientists and engineers.
• At least 5 years of experience building large-scale machine learning solutions at scale.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in Computer Science, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
• An ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences; at all levels within the organization.
• Success delivering results at scale in production oriented environments.
• Experience in computational advertising.
