Amazon is looking for an outstanding Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join the AWS International Product Management and Region Expansion Strategy team. As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer on this team, you will get an exciting opportunity to mine very large data sets for business insights that extract insights on distinct trends.
You will work closely with the business and technical teams to analyze many non-standard and unique business problems, and innovate on the use of creative-problem solving to deliver actionable output. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, a penchant to explain findings backed by sound statistical techniques, expound on the business impact of findings, and an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Designing, building, and maintaining automated reporting, dashboards to enable ongoing analysis/data driven decisions across product management and collaborating stakeholders.
Identifying, developing, managing, and executing queries across multiple data sets
and presenting written business recommendations.
Reporting key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy trends.
Scoping, building, and owning the technical data warehouse/visual reporting processes
Collaborating with business analysts and product managers to define analytical approaches and metrics strategy to uncover new business insights.
Writing high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables
for ad hoc/recurring needs and for trouble-shooting purposes.
Automating (e.g., Workflow, Cron) repetitive tasks and build refreshable dashboards with VBA/Python in business friendly formats (e.g., Excel, Power Point).
Visioning/executing data security and infrastructure for shared report/insights with other collaborating AWS teams.
In addition to leading the design, development, and management of our analytical tools and reporting, we will also look to this person to provide thought leadership and business analysis support as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
5+ years designing data structures/warehouses, using SQL, analyzing and interpreting data
5+ years working with technologies such as Tableau, Power BI, Redshift, Kinesis, Athena, S3
3+ years building data management and business intelligence related automation
Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, or an equivalent quantitative field
Proficient understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and using Excel
10+ years of experience working as a BIE in a business environment
Experience with Python, VBA, or other scripting languages
Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions
Experience communicating results and business impact of analytical deep dives to senior leadership
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience using R, SAS, Scala, or Julia for advanced statistical analysis (e.g., fixed effects, predictive modeling, cluster analysis, time series modeling)
Experience working with serverless architecture (e.g., Lambda), web crawlers, unstructured data stores (e.g., Hadoop/Hive)
Experience working as a Senior BIE in a technology company a plus
