Regional Lead, Aws Disaster Preparedness & Response

Do you have experience building coalitions and establishing strategic partnerships across the Asia-Pacific Region, with an emphasis on social impact? Are you a strategic thinker who can operate independently to deliver results at scale?

Amazon is looking for a passionate, customer-obsessed, and results-oriented Principal Program Manager with significant disaster management experience and a proven track record building, executing, and scaling programs and strategic initiatives. In this role, you will lead AWS' efforts to accelerate innovative uses of technology in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. You will be entrusted to help government, nonprofit, and international organizations across Asia utilize technology in new ways.

An ideal candidate will have strong communications skills, experience building, implementing, and scaling disaster preparedness/response programs from scratch to meet key success measures and impact metrics, and an ability to effectively coordinate across internal and external teams at an executive level. The person filling this role will lead projects involving teams across AWS, our customers and partners, and to communicate results to leaders and key stakeholders, including through public speaking engagements. They will have the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment, and should understand public sector organizations' disaster management needs across the region (including ASEAN, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand). They should be able and willing to travel across the region as conditions allow.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders active across the lifecycle of natural disasters and related crises in the Asia-Pacific region

• Act as the voice of the disaster and crisis customer in the region, communicating the unique disaster-focused challenges and opportunities they encounter
- Identify opportunities to solve recurring customer problems with repeatable solutions
- Manage program deliverables by leveraging financial resources, human resources (including volunteers and other AWS staff), and scheduling requirements against project milestones and deadlines
- Work with global AWS Disaster Preparedness & Response program leadership to set the strategy and priorities for Asia-Pacific customers and partners
- Coordinate with other Amazon teams (e.g. account teams, solutions architects, public policy, public relations, marketing, AWS Partner Network) to maximize regional impact related to disaster-focused activities
• Measure and analyze the impact of existing and future disaster-focused program initiatives, and effectively communicate to key decision makers and leaders
• Represent AWS at disaster-focused external events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in business, emergency/crisis management, disaster management, or related field
• 12+ years of professional experience
• 8+ years of experience working directly with (or for) public sector, non-profit, humanitarian, non-government, or international organizations who are active across the natural disaster lifecycle
• 8+ years of experience leading program development from idea to execution
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
• Commitment to learning and expanding technical knowledge of AWS and cloud computing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. MBA, MPA, etc.)
• Prior work experience with a technology company and/or in a technical field
• Attention to detail, including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
• Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
• Demonstrated ability to build internal and external coalitions and teams, using informal influence vs. positional power
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired
• Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to drive decision-making
