DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a seasoned, strategic, creative, and analytical communications professional with a proven track record of developing and executing high-impact communications programs for large, fast-moving, global organizations.

This role supports the Amazon Japan Operations business (fulfillment centers, delivery stations, etc.) by leading efforts to inform and educate key audiences on how Amazon delivers for our customers every day, and it is possible because of the sophisticated and innovative network we've been building for over twenty years.

This individual will work closely with leaders across the organization on communications planning, programming and content development, proactive and reactive media relations, speaking opportunities and events, and social media and owned channel activities. In addition to creating and executing proactive communications initiatives, this role will handle issues management and ensure that Amazon is accurately covered in the news.

This role might be for you if you are:
• An expert in Japanese writing and storytelling. Comfortable with balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while facing big challenges, and adjusting to sudden and frequent change
• Motivated by learning in a creative and dynamic culture where they will participate in the challenge of breaking new ground and redefining best practices
• Can effectively collaborate and partner with teams including internal communications, community engagement, public policy, as well as a range of business functions
• Possess significant focus on earned media, a media relations expert, who will own relationships with key reporters and drive innovative and ground-breaking PR campaigns to enhance corporate reputation

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage a broad range of proactive external communications programs and events in support of Amazon Japan Operations
• Write comms plans, press releases, blogs and other PR content; pitch and secure top media, including print, broadcast and online outlets; manage cross-channel programming
• Work cross-functionally to plan and execute cross-channel communications campaigns
• Align with APAC and Global Communications Strategy
• Develop, build and maintain strong relationships with press contacts
• Deliver strategic counsel to internal executives
• Manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree
• 12+ years of communications experience, including issues management and/or crisis communications in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment
• 10+ years of experience of managing media relations including direct communications with reporters
• 5+ years of digital campaign experience
• Business level of English and Japanese (written and verbal)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in journalism
• Experience working with senior leadership team
