Amazon's Alexa Data Services team is seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong business analysis skills to support the Cost & Service Management team in the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects and ongoing work ensuring consistency across the company strategy, commitments and goals. The Project Manager will monitor, analyze and report on key business metrics and work with internal teams to ensure organizational performance goals are met. The ideal candidate must be able to dive deep, be able to invent and simplify, deliver results quickly, and have a strong bias for action.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand Amazon Alexa Data Services' business: track business performance and identify problem areas using appropriate metrics
  • Analyze data trends to identify and advocate for business efficiencies (via cost) across our globally-distributed team
  • With guidance from Managers/Sr. Managers, establish and execute a weekly business analysis to distribute business metrics to internal and external teams, including but not limited to resource utilization rate(s), cost spent per business unit or project
  • Triage ad hoc customer requests for data delivery and provide cost estimates for new work
  • Collaborate with Alexa Data Service's Applied Modeling & Data Science team, Technology team, and World Wide Operations teams to iterate, research, and compare business strategies to realize efficiencies
  • Participate in functional requirements definition for the ADS Technology team toward developing automated processes for ADS cost management
  • Support the planning and implementation of projects, including creating project timelines and tracking project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
  • Two or more years as a Business Analyst/Project Manager or related position
  • Two or more years of experience reporting (verbally and written) data findings and/or recommendations to key stakeholders across both business and technical teams
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management, including project management techniques and tools
  • One or more years of experience performing analytical and quantitative analysis using tools such as Excel, Tableau, and/or SQL and using data to back up assumptions and develop business cases

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, competing objectives, changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Robust sense of accountability: sound personal judgment, capacity to handle confidential information appropriately, effectively raising issues
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail; can prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing the ability to dive deep
  • Experience with project forecasting, reporting, and data analytics
  • Experience with working on a cross-functional team with team members throughout many levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal abilities; can effectively communicate (both written and verbally) technical information and the results of analysis at all levels of the organization
  • Able to thrive in a corporate environment

  • Self-managing: well organized, with strong multi-tasking and time management skills
