The AWS Snow Family helps customers that need to run operations in austere, non-data center environments, and in locations where there's lack of consistent network connectivity. The Snow Family, comprised of AWS Snowcone, AWS Snowball, and AWS Snowmobile, offers a number of physical devices and capacity points, most with built-in computing capabilities. These services help physically transport up to exabytes of data into and out of AWS. As a Solutions Architect with AWS SnowX, you will build technical relationships with customers of all sizes and operate as their trusted advisor. You will have a big picture view of the IT landscape and will influence CXOs. In this role you will be responsible for thinking big, setting direction and priorities, driving definitions, delivering results, growing customer adoption, and ensuring we exceed all customer expectations. You will identify and achieve business and revenue opportunities by partnering with dev, product management teams and enabling new solutions. You will manage the technical relationship between AWS SnowX and our customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency to accelerate their challenging, mission-critical projects. Internally, you will be the voice of the customer, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS Snow Edge Computing features. In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions, with the opportunity to define or invent edge computing reference architectures for a variety of horizontal and vertical use cases. You will lead in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content and new reference architectures (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelize and educate about AWS SnowX and AWS Edge Computing (e.g. through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos or conferences). This position within the AWS SnowX team represents a unique and rare opportunity within the fast growing edge computing business and help shape the technology, product, and business.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week in every six. We don't like being paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our products are exceeding customer expectations. When we are paged, we work together to resolve the issue and ensure that root cause is addressed systemically.

• Background in any of the following: 10+ years professional experience in Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps
• Technical Degree (Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills
• A passion for technology and for learning
• Open to domestic and international travel up to 30%

• Experience with edge computing and data transfer
• Experience designing, building, refactoring or operating large scale and impactful IT systems - either on premises or in the cloud
• Working knowledge of cloud native architectures
• In-depth working knowledge in a technology domain such as distributed systems, enterprise workloads (Linux, VMware, and Windows Server), databases, file systems, NAS/SAN, software defined datacenter
• Experience working in a customer-facing role or a role which involved public speaking
• AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or other industry certification
