As a Database Freedom Principal Specialist within AWS, you will help shape the future of the database industry and further establish Amazon as the leader in the cloud computing space. You will be a primary contributor to the Database Freedom go to market strategy and drive execution across numerous AWS and partner teams. You will use your domain expertise in databases to drive revenue, develop sales programs and identify new markets and opportunities. You will work directly with the most interesting and demanding customers to understand their data migration requirements and turn them into reality. Your business savvy will help customers understand how to reduce costs and improve business agility using AWS purpose built database services. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will allow you to build sales enablement tools and evangelize our platform and migration tools and resources with our strategic customers and valued partners.
The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive a complex engagement and interact at the CxO/VP level, and a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and architects. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges. The ability to build and convey compelling value propositions and cross-organizational consensus are a must, along with a keen sense of ownership and personal drive.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Serve as a key member of the Database Freedom Business Development team, focused on driving overall AWS market and technical strategy for database migrations to AWS purpose built Database and Analytics Services.
Help define a path for customers to free themselves of the costs and limitations of commercial databases, both transactional and analytical.
Provide world class expertise and programs for data and application modernization initiatives to earn trust and maximize value for customers
Work closely with our customers to ensure they are successful using our database and analytics services, and that they have the technical resources required.
Provide customer and market feedback to accelerate adoption of AWS Database and Analytics Services.
Prepare and deliver business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks with customer engagements and program execution.
Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market.
Marry relational database technical knowledge with ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between varied database approaches (relational, non-relational, in-memory, data warehousing, etc.)
5+ years of experience with go to market strategy, business development, enterprise sales, or program/product management experience.
5+ experience working with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or NoSQL databases is required.
Technical and/or business degree required.
• Experience selling / positioning modern data architecture. • Experience with relational, analytic, and noSQL databases. • Experience with complex database migrations. • MBA, Computer Science, and/or Engineering/Math background highly desired; working knowledge of software development practices and data center / infrastructure / networking technologies highly desired. • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations is key. Industry experience in Financial Services, FinTech, Telco, Energy, or ISV is advantageous.
This position must be located near one of our U.S. AWS Corp. offices, preferably Seattle/SF Bay Area/New York Metro/Dallas/Austin/Houston area.
