DESCRIPTION

The Press Assistant, Policy Communications, will be part of the strategic communications team that supports Amazon's public policy team. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and super organized. They will support external communications programs, events, and day-to-day activities to advance the company's public policy goals.

Core job responsibilities include:
• Compile daily press clips and coverage reports for significant media cycles
• Monitor and track press coverage
• Coordinate time sensitive inbound press inquiries
• Field press inquiries on various topics
• Maintain media lists
• Write statements, talking points, and briefing materials
• Coordinate press events
• Staff media interviews

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of public relations experience
• Experience in policy communications working in government, a PR firm, or technology company

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience speaking with the media/pitching proactive stories
• Experience managing media relationships and a network of media contacts Clear and concise writing skills
• Proven track record in communications or PR for a high-profile public or private sector entity
