This role can be Sydney or Melbourne based.

Amazon Australia is seeking a highly-intelligent, self-motivated and creative communications professional to join our Operations communications team. Amazon Operations sits at the heart of the Amazon customer experience, looking after everything from the moment a customer clicks buy; to the moment their item is delivered from desktop to doorstep. The PR Manager will support the external Operations PR lead for Australia in delivering a strategic communications plan across owned and earned channels as we more than double our operations footprint in Australia in 2021.

The right candidate will be a passionate, self-starter who is willing and able to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done. They will have a strong storytelling ability, a high level of creativity, and experience in adapting communications to suit various audiences across earned and owned channels including social media channels. The successful candidate will be able to clearly formulate and communicate PR recommendations and plans to both peers and executives, drive collaborative decisions, and deliver results. They must have the ability to successfully work with broad stakeholder groups from all levels of the organsiation as well as external agencies. They will also demonstrate exemplary writing ability, strong initiative, and a talent for seeking out stories waiting to be told.

Accountabilities

The right candidate will have experience in delivering effective communications to a range of audiences (news, business and consumer), through media relations, social media and influencer campaigns. In particular s/he will:
• Conceive and manage day-to-day communications strategies and campaigns to support our operations including positively positioning building and program launches; ongoing news generation; profiling of employees and a executives; influencers and key opinion leader programs; and creative consumer campaigns
• Creatively and strategically deliver major news announcements ensuring strong key message penetration and maximum impact
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders inclusive of business owners, public policy, community, retail PR, internal communications, legal and external agencies to identify story opportunities
  • Write/develop and manage approvals for a variety of media materials, briefing materials, visual assets and owned content
  • Brief and manage external public relations, social media and media agencies for successful execution and analysis of communications activity
  • Reporting and analysis


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience managing media relationships and collaborating with external agencies / partners
  • Experience developing and executing successful content for both traditional media (TV, Print and Online) and social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. legal, public policy/government affairs, internal communications)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional PR experience either in-house or at an agency.
  • Experience in both corporate and consumer PR preferred
  • A passion for storytelling and proven ability to unearth, develop and place engaging stories in the media that can influence public opinion / perceptions
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, including the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Strategic and creative - ensures that PR activity delivers against business objectives and articulates key messages while being inspiring and engaging
  • Organised - able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while managing essential admin work
  • A strong bias for action and ability to work equally well with operations teams, executive management and external stakeholders.
  • Think and communicate clearly formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and create a concise and well-written narrative to express it;
