This role is with our AWS Outposts Operations team - delivering a new way for Infrastructure to be delivered to our customers. AWS Outposts brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility. Customers can now use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across their on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience. The provided AWS Outposts infrastructure is fully managed, maintained, and supported by AWS directly to deliver access to the latest AWS capabilities for our customers.

We are looking for a Networking Service Technician who is highly autonomous, possesses a "can do" attitude, and thrives in a fast-paced work environment. The Networking Service Technician plays a key role in enabling the installation and/or break-fix efforts associated with AWS cloud solutions that are hosted onsite at client premises or in client data centers. As a subject matter expert in the networking space, this role maintains accountability for resolving escalations, navigating through complex troubleshooting, and deploying strategies that optimize networking capabilities related to AWS products and solutions, partnering across both internal technical and customer servicing teams as well as external end-user customers. In this client-facing role, you will travel to client locations and AWS sites, both locally and internationally, to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment. You will be expected to manage your time onsite and coordinate materials and labor to ensure high standards and best-in-class client servicing expectations are met in the most efficient way possible. As a Networking Service Technician, you will help to deploy and maintain AWS cloud computing infrastructure across a number of locations. The role works directly with AWS customers and requires professionalism, excellent communications, and a passion for always providing the best customer service possible. Your activities will include (but are not limited to):
• Installing/expanding AWS infrastructure at the client premises, customer data center, and/or co-located data center environment
• Troubleshooting network installations & configurations, to include basic break/fix and/or decommissioning, as appropriate
• Providing technical support as the networking SME on the team, diagnosing and addressing networking failures in a timely manner
• Maintaining accountability for networking-related escalations and/or time-sensitive requests from internal and/or external customers
• Thinking proactively while working to prevent support issues and/or troubleshoot problems before they are realized by the customer
• Participating in efforts to improve operational efficiencies through the identification and development of SOPs, SLAs, and tools
• Partnering with and/or supporting third-party contractors to enable a seamless client experience while meeting established SLAs
• May participate in efforts to train and/or mentor new employees, ensuring a consistent focus on best-in-class client servicing
• May be required to work outside of standard working hours, to include nights and/or weekends (on-call rotations and/or on demand escalations) in support of client scheduling and/or time-sensitive escalations

Physical Requirements:
• Physical ability to push and/or pull heavy objects into position (regularly lift up to 49 lbs and participate in team lifts of 50+ lbs)
• Ability to on occasion work in cramped spaces, elevated locations and/or at heights and from ladders, as required

Travel Requirement:
• Frequent travel (40% on average to both domestic and international client locations) required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience working in a data center operations environment (experience with data center equipment and rack build/installation efforts)
• 2+ years of experience working with networking protocols/technologies (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3)
• 3+ years of progressive experience working in a networking troubleshooting capacity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in a technical field or 4+ years of relevant work experience in a data center operations environment
• Proficiency in network operating systems (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Junos) and basic understanding of Linux/Unix configuration
• Previous telecommunications experience in carrier grade implementations of MPLS, IP, Ethernet and DWDM and experience in designing/deploying large scale optical and routed networks highly desirable
• Previous experience with Cisco (CCNP-SP or equivalent) and Juniper (JNCIP-SP or equivalent) network design and support preferred
• Ability to write code in Perl or Python and knowledge of the Linux networking stack (TCP congestion control, routing, name resolution)
• Understanding of power feeds/redundancy, ATS, hot/cold aisles, and rack build/installations, and associated troubleshooting
• Experience in a client-facing role, with the proven ability to manage and effectively communicate expectations to clients
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating at all levels within an organization
• Ability to operate autonomously and manage to a schedule - excellent prioritization and time management; proven ability to think and act in a high-energy, fast-paced business environment
