We recently announced AWS Panorama (https://aws.amazon.com/panorama) and the AWS Panorama Appliance (https://aws.amazon.com/panorama/appliance/) and are looking for a software development manager with experience with embedded system software on edge devices and some familiarity with computer vision and ML. In this role you will lead the team owning the device platform which includes board support for solutions from Nvidia and other third party computer vision silicon, the platform security components and the build process and systems across multiple device types. You will also own vendor relationships with OEM and SOC partners.
Our problem space encompasses some of the hardest software engineering challenges where privacy and security for edge compute devices is paramount and you will work closely with related teams who own the application stack running on the devices and the cloud teams owning the distributed systems that provide OTA update and provisioning capabilities.
In the larger scope of the role, you will own the design, development, testing and deployment of new ML products with device-side software. You will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers, complete hands-on technical work and provide leadership on complex technical issues. You will manage and be responsible for delivering some of our most strategic technical projects, deliver large scalable systems, design new software systems at the cutting edge of ML technology and have a significant bottom-line impact on our business and competitive position.
As a manager of software development in AWS, you will part of the larger technical leadership community that forms the backbone of the company, plays a critical role in the broad business planning, working closely with senior executives, influences our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire talented team of engineers and ultimately enables us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 8+ years of software development experience, and at least 4 years' experience in an engineering management role
• 2+ years of device-side software experience (e.g. OS, firmware, drivers, applications, security etc)
• Masters or PhD in Computer Science
• 10+ years of relevant software development and engineering management experience
• Experience shipping one or more consumer- or developer-focused devices
• Machine Learning experience
• Experience leading a team that provides product support
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
