AWS Global Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Manager of Technical Program Managers (TPM) who is a passionate advocate of network availability, process improvement and operational excellence. Our team works with key stakeholders across AWS Infrastructure, Networking, Hardware Engineering, and Capacity Planning to design and build operational processes, automation tools and documentation to manage each lifecycle stage for our customer's data. This Manager will be directly involved with delivering both process and automation that enables our customers (InfraOps Data Center Staffing) to always protect our business's most important customer assets.
In this role, the Manager, will perform as a player-coach, owning the growth strategy and day to day projects designed specifically to protect customer data and intellectual property devices, while also developing and managing other Technical Program Managers. He/she will establish standardized processes and performance metrics, as well as participating hands-on in the tactical delivery of new technologies within our data centers. The TPM Manager will engage with and lead cross functional teams across AWS to initiate refinement and deployment of designs, develop and document requirements, establish budgets, develop and drive project schedules, remove blockers, and deliver results.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 7-10+ years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, At least 4 years of strategic program management and experience managing teams of direct and matrixed resources is desired. Strong judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent and leadership along with the capacity to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities are a must. Experience working in a complex engineering environment with prior experience as a technical project manager on increasingly complex projects is optimal. Experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments is a plus. A Bachelor's Degree or additional technical experience is required.
Candidate must be comfortable developing and driving high-level strategic initiatives, managing remote direct reports and matrixed project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues, and remove barriers to project success. Being able to create cross-functional matrix-based teams, demonstrate servant leadership in the development of others, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery is a must.
The TPM Manager will be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking. Other requirements include experience with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint. Experience with Tableau, KanBan, Playbook, SQL and systems integration a plus.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years of project management experience OR
• 5+ years managing a team of direct reports.
• 5+ years of experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
• 4+ years of experience in analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree or advanced professional certifications
Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies
Experience in management of complex, high value technology infrastructure projects
Experience in managing data center infrastructure deployments and R&D projects.
Experience of leading matrixed teams and individuals across multiple locations and time zones
Experience working in an international projects environment
Exceptional Analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentation skills
Well organized and able to work effectively under time pressure
Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint
Experience with Tableau, KanBan, Playbook, SQL and systems integration a plus
Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
Comfort and experience with cross-organizational communication; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience driving overall strategy and teams across organizations.
Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving down-stream programmatic risks (i.e. system incompatibility, resource unavailability) and opportunities (i.e. schedule opportunities, decoupling dependencies)
