FPGA Engineer

Description

AWS Elemental is an Amazon Web Services company that combines deep video expertise with the power and scale of the cloud. We are looking for an FPGA Development Engineer to build advanced video processing functions on hybrid CPU+FPGA systems. In this role, you will enable AWS Elemental's transcoders to process ultra-high-definition (UHD) content with the best possible subjective video quality (VQ) by:

  • Designing, implementing and testing video compression and pixel processing algorithms
  • Optimizing for maximum throughput on top-end x86 CPU + FPGA hardware platforms

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field OR
  • Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on three years of work experience for every one year of education
  • 4+ years professional experience in ASIC/FPGA development
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture
  • Proficiency in hardware programming languages (VHDL, Verilog and/or System Verilog)
  • Experience with RTL-level simulation and verification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale FPGA development, specifically for Xilinx/Altera
  • Experience with heterogeneous multi-processor architectures
  • Proficiency in C in Windows or Linux development environments
  • Video codec development experience, such as H.264 or H.265
  • Pixel processor development experience, such as de-interlacing and noise reduction
