The Digital Content and Commerce Service team (DCCS) enables digital businesses to automate financial transactions. As a subset of this organization, Digital FinOpEx's goal is to identify and drive reduction of financial risks across all digital businesses that utilize DCCS's processes, systems and services. We invent and implement metrics and tools that measure financial health, aim to reduce financial defects and increase speed to market, thus improving customer trust.

In this position, you will dig deep into the details of Amazon's digital financial processes and the DCCS services that support them. This will be integral in order to innovate and drive improvements to the financial integration processes that our onboarding clients experience. You must be able to understand complex business processes and technology. You should be comfortable interacting with software development engineers. You will have the opportunity to learn all of our digital businesses and meet a wide range of stakeholders. We value personality, insight, intellectual flexibility, and sound business judgment.

This position is expected to have sufficient finance/accounting experience to help the new business launch team identify and incorporate necessary reporting, have a solid understanding of computing system interaction and can identify internal control elements into systems or tools to support new business activities. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to accounting, finance, digital businesses and technical teams. You must be able to work independently, remain flexible with the ability to prioritize workloads, and maintain a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

The right individual will have solid business judgment, a strong controllership focus, and the capability to drive a fast paced organization to the right results with a focused and pragmatic approach to the business. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should have a strong background in system deep dive analysis, integrations, and driving projects to completion.

Job responsibilities will include:

System Analysis and Tooling: Drive deep dives into current code to build standardized workflows for financial integration. Work with engineers to design and build integration tools that involve multiple services. Innovate new tools based on customer feedback.

Process improvements and training: Review project launches and develop SOPs to ensure we have a strong audit trail. Evaluate lessons learned post launch to help drive process improvements. Build training material to be delivered to key stakeholders.

System and process flows: Understand and ensure appropriate documentation of the end-to-end financial event flows and integration paths (service capabilities, system dependencies and technical debt previously incurred), the reporting needs, the financial information health and sound business infrastructure practices.

Project management: Ensure deliverables are complete, timelines are adhered to, all financially relevant use cases have been captured, relevant system dependencies have been identified and sign off from key stakeholders is obtained. Work directly with customers for feedback in order to drive prioritization of roadmaps.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or similar field
  • 3+ years of experience with supporting Accounting, Auditing, or Finance functions
  • Proven experience in project management, understanding of financial systems and accounting awareness
  • Proven history of having worked effectively across cross-functional teams and business functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment similar to a high tech start-up
  • Track record of solving complex financial challenges
  • Relevant certifications (CPA equivalent)
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to write SQL
  • Experience with Digital Products and Royalties
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
