Financial Analyst II, Supply Chain Optimization Technologies

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Finance team is seeking a Financial Analyst who will support the Modelling and Optimization team. Modelling and Optimization Team does research and development on optimization, predictive modeling and machine learning algorithms and tools to help lower the cost of operations and delivery, and speed up the delivery experience for the Amazon customers.This role will be in the SCOT Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The role is located in Amazon's Seattle Headquarters.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate new business and technology initiatives to drive prioritization of resource decisions as part of our planning process
  • Present ad hoc business analysis requiring detailed modeling to offer recommendations and drive the decision-making of senior leadership
  • Assist and review detailed level operational planning, financial and business forecasting using large-scale statistical and data mining tools, SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos, and Excel spreadsheet modeling, and enforcing of financial controllership on operational activities

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering and/or similar discipline with analytical bias
  • 2+ years' relevant experience in positions that require financial analysis including familiarity with concepts of forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and/or data interpretation and analysis
  • 1+ years' experience performing financial and ad hoc analysis using data reporting tools
  • Experience with Excel advanced functions (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
  • SQL experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Measured experience demonstrating problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with concepts of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented and strong business sense; proven ability to develop new ideas, creative solutions and demonstrated experience implementing such mechanisms to result
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking skills are vital
  • Demonstrated effective communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and levels of management
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase and/or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing, Distribution Center or Logistics processes and systems a plus
  • Intermediate up to advanced proficiency in Excel (macros, pivots, lookups)
