DESCRIPTION

The Director of Product Management for Analytics will lead and scale cross cutting product management initiatives for Analytics at AWS that span some of our most strategic analytics services. The product leader in this role would span across Amazon Redshift for petabyte-scale data warehousing, Amazon EMR for managed Spark and Hadoop workloads, Amazon Athena for serverless and federated querying, AWS Lake Formation and Glue for managing and securing data lakes, data catalog, and ETL, and Amazon Elasticsearch Service for operational analytics and search. We are seeing an acceleration in cloud adoption overall and as customers move to become more data driven, analytics becomes a business-critical function. The importance of analytics and the explosion in volumes and types of data are driving tremendous demand and the Product Leader in this area will be at the heart of this growth. We strive for each service to be best-in-category and also want to ensure we offer customers a cohesive experience across our services so customers can easily adopt them. The person in this role will not only need to be deeply technical so they can engage with customers and engineering leaders across the analytics teams but they will also need to have deep customer empathy and an eye for great customers experiences so we can build remarkable products.

The Director of Product for Analytics will drive strategy, partnerships, go-to-market efforts, and execution across a large and growing set of services. You'll be a leader in the business as well, owning the financial health of the category and our overall GTM strategy. And, you'll personally engage with C-suite customers and AWS executives to represent Analytics category at AWS. In addition, you'll drive alignment across other services that are adjacent to Analytics and help us identify how our services need to evolve and what new things we need to build.

Several key traits will lead to your success in this role. You're passionate about data and analytics and in building and growing category-leading businesses and services. You excel at building great teams, including hiring and developing leadership and product talent. You inspire your people to continue to transform how the industry thinks about analytics, changing what can be done with Machine Learning, Big Data, Media, etc. You love to roll up your sleeves and get into the details of the technology and the business. You're a fountain of ideas, but you also add clarity, simplicity, and a quality-focus so that we get the right things done right and done rapidly.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 15+ years of industry experience
• 10+ years managing managers
• 5+ years directly managing multiple or large products/services
• Strong database and analytics fundamentals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MBA
• Proven track record of high-scale hiring and talent management on teams of multiple disciplines
• Proven track record of product management and in helping to define and grow large scale, b2b, technical products and services
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
• Strong operational skills
• Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals
• Ability to thrive in a startup-like environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
