Director, Demand Media


Audible, Inc. an Amazon Company, is seeking an analytic and highly motivated individual to join our acquisition team. You will identify and implement strategies to grow membership, establish the brand in culture and create an engaged subscriber base -. We seek an experienced and savvy marketing professional with media experience managing significant media budgets and optimizing traffic from traditional channels, like TV, Radio, Out of Home, etc. You will work closely with internal and external teams including multiple external media agencies, Amazon, Product Marketing, Product, Brand, Creative Services, Content, Finance and Technology. This position reports to the VP of Marketing.


  • Develop and execute multi-channel plans to drive new member acquisition, with a focus on traditional channels like Video (TV/OLV), Audio (Radio/OLA), High Impact Display, Out-of-Home and Print.
  • Drive advanced marketing strategies, such as:
  • Leveraging an understanding of native media consumption habits and behaviors of customers (segments) to reach the right customer at the right time in the right place
  • Leverage Media Mix Modeling to drive maximum results in addition to performing multi-channel analyses to determine the impact of media on multiple channels
  • Using a range of engagement tactics to drive from awareness to conversion
  • Segmentation strategies and testing
  • Manage significant annual budget and member forecast including media spend allocation.
  • Manage and motivate direct report team to achieve goals
  • Lead large-scale acquisition campaigns that touch all aspects of marketing
  • Manage relationships with media agencies and vendors, including negotiating pricing and agreements
  • Share best practices with product, product marketing and international teams
  • Analyze marketing performance reports and made proactive recommendations for changes
  • Leveraging paid, owned and earned media to create efficient customer engagement strategies
  • Non-traditional campaigns designed to breakthrough and establish a brand in culture
  • Leverage media buys for content integrations with mainstream media partners
  • Partner with market research to enhance understanding of customer motivations for use in acquisition strategies
  • Standardize process to ensure agency –team relationship operates as efficiently as possible
  • Ownership of campaign / Media calendar
  • Other responsibilities as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Math or a related field of study
  • 10+ years of experience in media or marketing. Digital/Mobile experience a plus
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of marketing campaigns across channels
  • Direct people management experience and also experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing a large budget and forecasting
  • Experience in managing media and creative agencies
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or graduate degree
  • Have worked at a leading brand company or agency managing leading brands
  • Proactive and solutions oriented
  • Entrepreneurial spirit / ability to try different things with minimal direction
  • Established track record of creativity and innovation
