Amazon.com is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of cloud compute services. We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven infrastructure and compute technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding with the drive and vision to take Amazon.com Data Center Operations to the level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skill sets, creating, tracking and controlling budgets, devising strategies, mentoring people, sponsoring projects, managing work queues and driving SLA improvements. The candidate will be operationally responsible for Amazon.com's South America Data Center Cluster. These sites consist of several physical data centers. Some high-level responsibilities include:

• Be the focal point for any issues within the cluster and drive SLA improvements to all the services
• Ensure that maximum availability is achieved through proactive programs across all domains
• Prioritize and assign work to engineers, and operator.

• Routinely review events for patterns and address problems accordingly

• Coordinate change management resources

• Guide, train and educate data staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues

• Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs

• Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills

• Provide weekly report to the senior data center manager

• Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations

• Recruit engineers to ensure appropriate staffing levels

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires 3+ years leading technology teams with work experience as a information technology operations manager. The ideal candidate must have good team, organizational and planning skills, as well as stringent time management skills to balance dynamic workloads in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration
• Ability to communicate in English and Portuguese in a technical and business setting.
• Experience in hiring skilled technology workers.
• Experience working in a 24x7 operations team
• Experience managing and developing people's perfomance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an computer science, engineering or software development discipline.
• Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration
• Networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices
• Hardware architectures knowledge and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with system management tools and client/server environments
• Highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems
• Greatly developed problem analysis and critical thinking experience.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven customer obsession track record
