Cost Accountant

This individual will be a key contributor to the cost accounting and inventory function within the organization. This person will be the primary point of contact between the finance department and the manufacturing organization for a major product line. S/he will provide financial support to operations management including budgeting, transaction and manufacturing variance analysis, standard setting, BOM validation and participate in the monthly close cycle and other projects as requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities ยท Analyzing changes in bills of material, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost

Basic Qualifications

  • Analyzing actual period and manufacturing costs, comparing to Budget and/or standard costs and preparing periodic reports
  • Preparing estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Preparing journal entries
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including raw material and finished goods inventories
  • Oversees and audits physical inventory and monitors cycle count program
  • Assists with special financial and business related studies and cooperates with other departments in preparing analyses
  • Uses ERP system to extract information, analyze data and draw conclusions
  • Ad hoc analyses, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting
  • 1-5 years of experience (Manufacturing Operations and/or Supply Chain/Logistics experience a plus)
  • Ability to work with ERP systems with a strong desire to learn and become SME. Analyze and resolve variances (Oracle preferred but SAP also a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborative effectively in a fast paced environment
