Cloud Software Team Lead - Blink Devices

DESCRIPTION
If you are a sharp, seasoned software engineer with a desire to be a leader in delivering the next generation of Blink products, we want to talk with you. In this role, you will lead a group of software engineers in the implementation of Cloud Services that enable the Blink product line. You will take a lead architectural role and you will interact with the other software teams at Blink and across the rest of Amazon. Most importantly, you will focus on the best ways to delight our customers.
Blink is the affordable, battery-operated home security camera that sends motion-activated alerts and HD video to a smartphone. We are part of Amazon Devices, the consumer electronics division that brings you the Kindle, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, and Echos. Our vertically integrated engineering team works on algorithms, ASICs, hardware, firmware, cloud software and mobile applications to deliver products that customers love. We are hiring talented engineers to grow our team in order to support our explosive growth and support new Blink products.
The Role:
• Architect, design, develop and implement Cloud services that enable current and future Blink products
• Lead regular system architecture, software design, patent filing, and interview cycles
• Interact with other teams across Blink and Amazon to ensure product quality and cohesiveness
• Work closely with our marketing and customer support teams to discover new ways to delight the customer
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years as a hands-on team leader
• 5+ years experience with object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• 5+ years working with Ruby/Python or similar
• 5+ years building distributed web services
• 5+ years with databases such as MySQL, Redis, and DynamoDB
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in implementing professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle
• Active participant in bringing at least one successful product to market.
• Strong communication skills (design docs, technical presentations, white boarding)
• Audio/Video codec knowledge
• Socket level programming
• Experience with camera image processing
• Demonstrable technical leadership skills
