Amazon is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to design and build tools for gaining unique insights into customer experience. As Senior BIE in a specialized area, you are responsible for data visualizations and analytics that power problem solving and user experience improvements. You will have scope and impact across the Alexa organization, understanding team needs, collaborating with international partners, and applying your creativity to solve problems and change the way we look at data. This is a stimulating and multi-faceted role, and you will positively impact the Alexa experience.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Own the tools vision: Understand BI tools needs across Alexa; author the strategy and vision for BI tools; create buy-in with key partners
  • Own execution: Optimize existing tools, and build new ones that combine usability and power; coordinate with and influence related partner efforts
  • Represent the team: act as subject matter expert for BI tools; proactively support the Alexa community and partner team processes with relevant data
  • Be efficient: Apply your technical expertise, be it through leadership or hands-on work, to unblock and accelerate achievement of the tools roadmap

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of years of relevant work experience in analytics, data engineering, business intelligence, market research or related field, and 7+ years professional experience (experience in consumer-facing industry preferred)
  • Experience building and maintaining Tableau tools
  • Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tool(s) to extract data, formulate metrics and build reports
  • Experience using SQL, ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
  • Experience communicating analytical outcomes through written communication with both business and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, economics, computational linguistics or related field
  • Broad technical breadth and depth including familiarity with natural language processing and database infrastructure
  • Both technically deep and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects across functional teams, including engineering, IT, product management, marketing, finance, and operations
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where continuous innovation is desired
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions for consumers in households
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
