AWS Support Engineer - EC2

Description

Do you like helping U.S. Intelligence Community agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems? Would you like to do this using the latest cloud computing technologies? Do you have a knack for helping these groups understand application architectures and integration approaches, and the consultative and leadership skills to launch a project on a trajectory to success?

AWS Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) is looking for engineers passionate about operations and a desire to learn and be curious about Amazon's internal services. EC2 team members own the scaling and management of services across AWS regions including EC2, CloudWatch, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), Simple Queue Service (SQS), Simple Workflow (SWF) and AutoScaling.

Applicants must possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance (TS) with SCI eligibility. A US Government administered polygraph examination will be required. Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access is not required to start; however, the applicant selected will be subject to a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified national security information. Applicants with a current SSBI, SBPR, or PPR, may be eligible for crossover in accordance with ICPG 704.4.

In this position you'll get to:

  • Work with other engineers to build and manage massively scaled services
  • Build tools to automate common tasks and processes
  • Track the health of our services, identify and fix problems on complex systems with massive scale
  • Collaborate with some of the leading minds in distributed systems

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 Plus years building and running systems for Internet-facing services
  • 3 Plus years basic tools experience in a Unix-like environment
  • 3 Plus years experience with TCP/IP network troubleshooting and administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in a 24x7 production environment, esp. one based on Linux
  • Experience with SQL scripts and database administration preferred
  • Development of systems management and administration automation in an advanced scripting language Perl, Python, or Ruby
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
  • Experience with performance testing and tuning
  • Automation or monitoring framework experience, deployment or development
  • Experience with very large distributed systems such as multi-terabyte storage farms, and/or horizontally scaled request processing fleets
