AWS Security Payments Analyst

The AWS Security team is in need of a self-starter who will work with the Program Manager to build and grow the Security payments program for the global and rapidly expanding AWS Security team in Seattle, Washington.

This includes tracking our complex budget, forecasting for future needs, working across multiple Amazon and AWS teams, driving process changes with our vendors, interfacing with multiple stakeholders that are working on big projects, and effectively pioneering the way AWS manages budgets across all teams.

The ideal candidate for this role will have fundamental skills in budgeting and forecasting and will be able to look at the big picture, drive process, initiate effective change management, and feel comfortable reporting to multiple levels within an org with the right type and level of communication. He/she will be able to work autonomously and drive cross-functional projects involving all AWS Security teams, the AP team, and Finance teams.

The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and prioritize.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Becoming the subject matter expert on all things AWS Security budget and implementing scrappy automation to reduce manual efforts.

  2. Partnering with business and finance teams and providing support in deep-diving to answer questions from finance, business, and senior leadership.

  3. Providing analytical support to the team and creating meaningful reports to drive process improvement or business insights

  4. Partnering with AWS Security finance, accounting, and accounts payable team members globally to construct and implement improvements to the financial tracking, reporting, planning and forecasting processes.

  5. Working closely with vendors as their POC for invoice, payment, and tracking purposes.

  6. Creating new tools/systems/dashboards that enable teams throughout AWS Security to have appropriate visibility into the AWS Security budget.

  7. Working closely with business and finance partners to understand budget needs, line item reporting, tracking and forecasting.

  8. Working closely with the AR and AP teams to track invoices and payments and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Advanced experience with Excel

  2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a business management, financial accounting, or financial reporting field.

  3. 5 years in a financial analyst or program manager function.

Preferred Qualifications

All of the basic qualifications plus:

  1. Familiarity with different financial reporting software

  2. Experience working successfully in an ambiguous environment

  3. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion

  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and team-oriented philosophy

  5. A strong desire and aptitude for learning

  6. Ability to react with the appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events which require quick response or turnaround
