AWS Outposts provide fully managed AWS infrastructure and services to customers in their on-premises data centers. Amazon S3 on Outposts, launched in 2020, provides hybrid object storage enabling customers to store and retrieve data on-premises using the S3 programming model and features. Our team is responsible for delivering this hybrid storage platform on Outposts. As part of the team, you will help architect, design, implement and support S3 features for customers who are building applications that require data to be stored locally for performance or data residency use cases.

We are looking for engineers to solve challenging problems and help evolve and expand the service. As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the team, you will be a key contributor to the growth of the service. You will have the opportunity to work on distributed computing problems, architect and design S3 features for Outposts customers and enhance customer experience through operational excellence. You will be joining an experienced team of engineers that architects and builds solutions at AWS scale. We're looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable, and able to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of peers.
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. Our entire team is co-located in the Boston Seaport office, but we're also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week in every six to eight weeks. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our products are exceeding customer expectations. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the issue and ensure that root cause is addressed systemically.

• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
