DESCRIPTION

This role will require on-site attendance in Chicago, IL, Northern Los Angeles, CA, or the Greater Washington D.C. Area and will not be a remote position.

Amazon Fresh Stores is a unique extension of Amazon.com that focuses on in-person shopping experiences through our grocery stores. We are passionate about creating a shopping experience that customers love. Amazon provides training and development for Assistant Store Manager Interns to become exceptional people leaders.

This is a ten-week internship (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2023 located within one of our Amazon Fresh Stores. This is not a corporate, office-based internship.

Assistant Store Manager Interns will bring Amazon's customer obsession to life in a grocery environment. You will help lead a team of engaged grocery associates to deliver a best-in-class shopping experience for customers. You will play a vital role in maintaining a vibrant store culture based on customer obsession, trust, respect, continuous learning, safety, and fun. Assistant Store Manager Interns are natural leaders who are comfortable with change and are always looking for ways to improve their operation through data-driven decision making. Assistant Store Manager Interns demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent ownership, the ability to meet deadlines, a willingness to learn new things, and a commitment to the customer and employee experience.

Program Quick Facts and Location
• This position is not a corporate role or in an office setting. This position is interactive, on-the-floor with your team and will be located in an Amazon Fresh Store
• Term: Ten weeks during summer of 2023
• Competitive pay, relocation (if qualified), and housing assistance (if qualified)
• An offer for full-time employment upon graduation may be given after the internship

Key job responsibilities
Key Job Responsibilities
• Learning to coach, manage, and develop a team of Amazon associates
• Drive standard work and continuous improvement through an intern project
• Assist in communicating policies to your team and act as a source of information for the team
• Support associate recognition programs
• Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe environment for all employees, customers and products in store
• Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention
• Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards
• Maintain performance goals and targets to ensure accuracy and quality for customers
• Work weekends and holidays as needed
• Work overtime as needed
• Stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 10 hours at a time
• Regularly bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head
• Lift and move items up to 49 pounds

A day in the life
As an Assistant Store Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn how to coach and develop a team of Amazon associates in a grocery store environment. You will learn to motivate, mentor, and manage a team, and develop a summer project in partnership with leadership. Alongside your peer mentor, you will ensure associates have all the tools needed to succeed during a shift. Through performing store walks, you will engage with associates on the floor, modeling behaviors of success and jumping in to fulfill associate activities when needed to provide a great customer experience or develop others.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree with a conferral date between December 2023 and August 2024

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Adept at the ability to motivate others in a deadline-focused environment
• Ability to evaluate and dive deep into data to provide thought-provoking, workable business solutions
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program such as Business Administration, Operations Management, or related area
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
