The Accountant within Corporate Accounting & Reporting is a key member of the team and is responsible for executing the day to day activities of the Enterprise Consolidations team. The Accountant is expected to manage their assignments based on prioritization and direction and raise issues as appropriate.
- Prepare financial statements and schedules that are incorporated into the quarterly and annual SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as required for all publicly traded companies as well as assist with the annual statutory financial statements required by state insurance departments and the NAIC.
- Ensures compliance over accounting and financial reporting through the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting guidelines issued by the FASB, SEC and NAIC.
- Monthly close and related processing and analysis (e.g. account analysis, preparation of journal entries)
- Preparing and analyzing account reconciliations
- Completing SOX controls
- Partnering with management to implement key initiatives and process improvements
- Implementing, reporting, and communicating the impact of business and accounting related initiatives on assigned processes and financial statements
- Working collaboratively within the team and across various department
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting
- 0-2 years of prior accounting and/or financial reporting experience
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Solid PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Office
- Knowledge of SAP accounting system a plus.
- General knowledge of GAAP. Insurance knowledge a plus
- Ability to multi-task and work with multiple customers and suppliers while consistently meeting required deadlines
- Knowledge of financial statement reporting and related analysis
- The ability to research, assemble and communicate findings to areas requesting analytical information
- Good organizational and referencing skills related to work papers, financial statements and schedules
