Job Description

As the Encompass Education and Communication Senior Manager you will gain hands-on experience in the world of corporate education and communications management and see firsthand the inner workings of an insurance company. You will focus on cutting-edge education and internal communications, agent and employee engagement, and strategic planning - all with a balance of autonomy and support to build successful strategies and bring ideas to fruition. Ultimately the outcomes of your work will help ensure the Education team is effectively supporting the Encompass senior leadership team, our independent agents and employees, while contributing as a strategic partner and counselor to the business.

We're looking for an education and communication professional who can take projects and run with them, has a knack for distilling complex info into understandable and engaging messaging, can strike the right balance between strategic and creative thinking, and is comfortable working with leaders at all levels.

The Education Sr Manager leads strategic vision for Encompass education and communication and oversees the entire education staff to ensure team efforts directly support company strategies and profitable growth goals. The Sr Manager works closely with senior leadership, Regional Sales and Product Directors, Regional Sales Managers, front line sales leaders and across AOR's to provide insights and recommend specific action to support company initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking

  • Design, develop and lead education and communication strategies and best practices for the Encompass organization.
  • Provide leading-edge thinking for creation initiatives that support Encompass Vision and Strategies
  • Create and execute a thoughtful, integrated, annual strategic education and communication plan in support of Encompass business objectives and aligned with broader Allstate enterprise goals
  • Applies efforts to diverse and complex situations to determine solutions, alternatives or guidance
  • Presents business cases and influences others to take recommended actions
  • Sets operational parameters for collaborative efforts/teams with and across functional boundaries
  • Achieves results on initiatives that contribute to growth and profit goals
  • Create graphically appealing and engaging presentations that connect the dots internally and externally, and raise the profile and reputation of Encompass.
  • Encourages risk taking and alternative idea generation
  • Fosters relationships across functions
  • Possess the poise, maturity and intellect to build relationships with business leaders in Encompass and across the organization as appropriate
  • Proactively build relationships throughout the insurance industry in order to connect people, organizations and concepts so that education and communication support is strategic, comprehensive and rigorous



Lead Education and Communication Programs
  • Strategy: Define education and communication program scope and strategy and ensure alignment with organization's corporate goals.
  • Change Leadership: Define change management strategy and stakeholders; Coordinate and lead communication events. Ensure collaboration with AORs.
  • Tell the Encompass story through internal and external (agency-facing) strategic communication
  • Know the business and work closely with the Encompass Senior Leadership team as thought partners, using communication to build and strengthen Encompass' reputation, strategy and culture
  • Provide expert communications counsel to advance issues and initiatives important to Encompass, agents, customers and employees
  • Plans and coordinates the integration and delivery of planned changes/projects/programs to regions/field
  • Assures proper execution of regulatory/legislative practices for Encompass







Manage Human Resources
  • Leads large scale programs, processes, projects and/or multiple facets of human capital management resources to support company initiatives
  • Assesses and anticipates resource needs including skills and education requirements (when leading project teams and/or managing direct reports)
  • Directs and is responsible for work that needs to be performed by a team(s) and/or their direct reports
  • Adheres to company's management practices and processes
  • Executes performance management and development plans for all direct reports
  • Actively involved in talent development for team and department



Consulting/Leading Education and Communication Across Encompass
  • Top level expert in one or more highly specialized areas of education /business development programs and processes
  • Provides strategic guidance and direction on education and communication /business development programs, processes, and initiatives
  • Leads and directs the strategic planning and design of education and communication operations, programs, and processes to support changing business tactics
  • Provides business/technical consultation and solutions on highly complex projects
  • Leads work across AOR's

  • Fosters improvement and leads efforts for continuous improvements with education and communication processes and programs



Functional Knowledge
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and can consult on complex issues within their discipline(s) from both an internal and external perspective
  • Understands the unique requirements of Independent Insurance Agencies
