Job Description

A Corporate Relations Manager provides ongoing communications counsel to business unit clients; manages the implementation of internal and external communication strategies serving as a resource for news media on issues or topics that could impact the Corporation and/or business units; develops and directs communication strategies and initiatives for internal and external clients; and monitors and measures project work.

This position will support Allstate Brand Operations, specifically leading ABO communication strategies in support of ABO-to-enterprise initiatives. The Corporate Relations Manager will work closely with all ABO business areas and the Enterprise Communication team to ensure seamless integration. They will also partner with key stakeholders across the enterprise, specifically Allstate Brand Distribution and Allstate Technology & Strategic Ventures to drive APL priorities, advance ABO key objectives and drive business results. Candidates for this position should have a strong understanding of the field structure and the various communication vehicles throughout the enterprise used to reach employees and agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking

Create and manage a strategic communication plan and budget in order to have communications aligned to and based on the business objectives.

Ensure the integration, consistency of messaging and linkage across Corporate Relations as well as other Allstate areas of responsibility.

In a timely manner, create and manage a communication plan in order to deliver key messages and ensure two-way communication with the proper audiences.

Provide strategic communication counsel to the client and all departments or business units in order to provide them with the knowledge and direction necessary to communicate appropriately to various audiences.

Ensure integration of corporate messages into business, department and regional messages in order to ensure consistency in delivery of key messages.

Client Management

Partner with appropriate business units, departments and regional teams in order to provide communication direction and counseling.

Proactively manage emerging and existing issues that may have an impact on overall business performance and the image of the Allstate.

Coordinate integration of work processes, planning, and execution with all appropriate business units and/or departments, including the prioritization of work.

Influences the work of the department to ensure all initiatives and strategies are supporting the client and company in achieving business objectives.

Leadership / Development of Others

Create an environment where vision and mission are clearly defined, targets for performance are aggressive, feedback is expected and rewards and consequences are visible and measurable.

Provide coaching in regard to performance and skills for continuous development of direct reports.

Create a high performance work environment that is flexible, encourages personal accountability, teamwork and ongoing professional development.

Utilize the performance management process with all employees.
